Join us for this exciting one-day workshop hosted by North Yorks Art School and led by Garth Bailey, an experienced art tutor who specialises in capturing movement and has sold and taken commissions from sports personalities the world over. It's the Wimbledon finals weekend so what better way to capture the sporting action on paper. This workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to bring energy and life to their artwork. Garth will guide you through the process of capturing dynamic movement, whether your inspiration comes from sport, dance, or any other fast-moving subject. You’ll learn how to translate fleeting moments onto the page, imbuing your drawings with a wonderful lightness of touch and vibrant energy. During the session you will work with water-soluble pens, watercolours, and inks on quality watercolour paper. The day will begin with a loose underdrawing before building up to a fully fledged, full-colour artwork. Expect to let loose and go wild with expressive mark-making in a supportive and creative atmosphere. You’re welcome to bring your own reference photo of a sporting or dance moment (or any moving subject you love). If you’d prefer, Garth will provide a selection of inspiring images for you to choose from. By the end of the workshop you will leave with a lively, movement-filled piece and the skills and confidence to successfully capture motion in your future work.
