Join us for a vibrant one-day enamel workshop at North Yorks Art School, led by Heather Croft, an accomplished enamel artist passionate about sharing the art of fusing glass to metal. This beginner-friendly session welcomes both novices and experienced crafters, guiding you through the creation of stunning enamel test pieces in the morning and a unique set of enamel tiles in the afternoon. You’ll explore the essentials of enamelling, learning to apply powdered glass, use kilns, and experiment with colours and textures to craft pieces. Set in the welcoming, creative hub of Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre this workshop offers a supportive and inspiring atmosphere, ensuring you leave with beautiful enamel creations that you will take home on the day and the skills to continue this radiant craft. Enamelling, an ancient art form dating back to 1500 BC in Mycenaean Greece, involves fusing powdered glass to metal surfaces through high heat, creating durable, colourful designs. From Byzantine jewellery to medieval religious artefacts and modern decorative arts, enamelling has been prized for its luminous quality and versatility, used in everything from jewellery to architectural panels. Requiring only enamel powders, metal bases, and a kiln, it’s an accessible craft that produces vibrant, long-lasting pieces suitable for personal adornment, home decor, or fine art. This workshop introduces you to the mesmerising process of enamelling, empowering you to create test pieces and tiles that capture light and colour with striking effect. Saturday 24th January 2026 10am - 4pm with Heather Croft This workshop takes place at: Henshaws Art & Crafts Centre 50 Bond End Knaresborough HG5 9AL This workshop includes all materials, refreshments and lunch.
