Fused Glass Platter Workshop

Join us for an inspiring one-day glass fusion workshop, where you’ll craft your very own unique fused glass platter under the expert guidance of Helen Gordon a renowned glass artist with a 1st Class Honours degree in Glass and a true passion for vibrant, tactile designs. This beginner-friendly session welcomes complete newcomers exploring glass for the first time, as well as those with some fusing experience. No drawing skills are required. However simple or ambitious your design, the finished piece will be stunning and completely personal to you. You’ll choose between a 14 x 14cm square or 14 x 24cm rectangular platter. Helen will teach you how to cut and shape glass, but there are so many wonderful ways to build your design that cutting isn’t essential if you’d prefer to avoid it. Whether you create a complex, detailed centrepiece or something bold and beautifully colourful, the choice is entirely yours. You can arrive with a clear idea of what you’d like to make, or simply come along and be inspired by the beautiful examples on the day. Either way, Helen’s friendly, hands-on support will help you make the very best use of the materials to bring your vision to life. The time spent on your platter will depend on the complexity of your design. Should you finish with time to spare, there are optional additional activities available. Choose from making coasters, cocktail stirrers, or jewellery pieces. These are charged at a small extra cost to cover materials and firing only, payable on the day. The cost of the 14 x 14cm square platter is included in the workshop fee. If you’d like to make the larger 14 x 20cm rectangular platter instead, there is an optional upgrade of £10, which can be selected at checkout and must be booked in advance. Whether you’re making a beautiful centrepiece for your table, a special treats plate, or a thoughtful handmade gift, this is a wonderfully creative day that leaves you with a lasting, one-of-a-kind piece of fused glass art to treasure or share. Saturday 6th June 2026 10am - 4pm with Helen Gordon This workshop takes place at: North Yorks Art School 2-4 South Street Scarborough YO11 2BP This workshop includes all materials, firing, refreshments and lunch. Following the workshop, your work will be taken away and kiln fired. Your fired pieces will then be safely posted to your home address.
Cancellation Policy
All workshops are priced including VAT charged at 20%. By completing this purchase you are securing a place for a workshop or course which, unless stated, includes all materials, refreshments and lunch. We understand that plans can change, so we’ve outlined our cancellation and rescheduling policies for our residentials to ensure clarity and flexibility. At North Yorks Art School (NYAS), we incur a number of costs as soon as a booking is made — including venue, tutor, bank charges and administration fees. Unfortunately, due to the increasing number of cancellations, we now need to pass on a portion of these costs to customers when cancellations occur. Rescheduling Your Booking You can reschedule your booking up to 8 weeks before the start date of your workshop free of charge — (subject to availability). Reschedules outside of this time will be subject to a 10% booking fee. We will confirm the change in writing and transfer your place accordingly. Cancellations & Refunds If you choose to cancel your booking rather than reschedule, the following cancellation fees will apply: Over 6 Months 90% refund 4 to 6 months 80% refund 2 to 4 months 70% refund 31 to 60 days 50% refund 30 days or less No refund Refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 3–5 business days once the cancellation is confirmed. Your Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period) If you live in the UK or EU, you are entitled to a 14-day cancellation window from the date of booking. Within this period, you may cancel for a full refund without providing a reason. To exercise this right, contact us at info@bookaclass.org within the 14-day period.
