Thursday Linocut Printmaking

Discover linocut printing with this direct graphic printmaking technique. The process begins with designing your image (you can bring your own reference or select from provided options), transferring it in reverse to the lino surface, then carefully carving away non-printing areas using a variety of chisel-shaped gouges, knives, and V-tools in different sizes to create thick, bold lines or delicate details. Creating a raised relief where uncarved surfaces hold the ink while excised parts remain white in the final print. With expert tuition on hand throughout, ink is rolled evenly onto the raised areas using a brayer, paper is placed on top, and pressure from the press transfers the bold, graphic image, resulting in striking single-color or multi-colour editions ideal for elaborate artworks, decorative pieces, or simple greetings cards, making it an absorbing, beginner-friendly yet versatile technique for all skill levels. Materials: For this class we supply a single piece of A5 Lino. For those of you looking to work on larger Lino, we do have A4, A3, A2 and A1 sizes of Lino available to buy from the school shop. We will also provide paper for you to produce test prints and up to 4 sheets of quality paper for your A5 print. Individual sheets of paper are also available to buy in larger sizes. You will also have use of our range of inks. Lino cutting tools are also available for you to use but feel free to bring your own tools. From 5th March 2026 this pay-as-you-go class takes place at: North Yorks Art School 2-4 South Street Scarborough YO11 2BP Booking is essential as places are limited.
Cancellation Policy
All Classes, Courses, Workshops and Masterclasses are priced including VAT charged at 20%. Cancelations and Rescheduling You can reschedule a bookaclass.org event up to 2 weeks before the commencement of the event. bookaclass.org will transfer your booking to an alternative date and provide written confirmation of the cancelation and new booking. You can cancel a bookaclass.org event up to 2 weeks before commencement of the event. bookaclass.org will process a full refund for the event which will be made to your original payment method and can take 3-5 business days to process. Cancelations within 2 weeks of the event will not be refunded, however bookaclass.org will look to reschedule you onto a future bookaclass.org event. This option is at the discretion of bookaclass.org. Your Right to Cancel If you are a customer living in the United Kingdom or the European Union you have the right to cancel your contract to purchase services from us within 14 days of purchase without giving notice. The cancellation period will end 14 days from the date of purchase when you purchased a service.
