This two-day reduction linocut workshop is perfect for those with some linocut experience who want to deepen their skills and explore the reduction technique. Over the course of the weekend, you'll learn how to plan, cut, and print a multi-layer reduction linocut, building up an image through different colored layers. On Day 1, you'll start by preparing your image for reduction printing. This includes deciding on the sequence of layers, transferring your image to the lino, and cutting the first layer. The tutor will provide step-by-step demonstrations, showing you how to ensure accurate registration (aligning each layer). You’ll begin printing the first layers of your design, focusing on color mixing and how each layer interacts with the next. On Day 2, you’ll delve into more creative techniques, such as "rainbow rolls" (blending colors on the roller) and selective inking. You will continue cutting and printing layers, gradually building up your image. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have completed a small edition of your own reduction linocut print, showcasing multiple layers and colors. This hands-on workshop is led by an experienced tutor, and you'll leave with both the knowledge and confidence to continue working with reduction linocut on your own. Children over 12 years old may attend this workshop if accompanied by a paying adult. Children over 14 years old are welcome to attend unaccompanied.
