Join us for an inspiring weekend of artistic discovery at Cober Hill, nestled along the breathtaking North Yorkshire coast. Hosted by North Yorks Art School and led by Helen Drye, this weekend residential welcomes artists of all skill levels to hone their craft and explore new techniques, while connecting with a community of fellow creatives. The residential package includes two-night full-board, en-suite accommodation in Cober Hill’s historic mansion house with breakfast and evening meals provided. You will attend your workshop, which includes all materials between 10am-4pm on Saturday with a and buffet lunch included. Complimentary refreshments, including tea, coffee, and snacks, are available throughout the day in breakout areas. Check in begins at 3:00pm on Friday 9th January 2026 with check out by 10:30am on Sunday 11th January 2026. Workshop takes place 10am-4pm Saturday 10th January 2026. Workshop Details Perfect for beginners and those with some crafting experience, this workshop offers a welcoming and creative environment to explore the innovative art of silver clay. Silver clay, a revolutionary material developed in Japan in the 1990s, combines fine silver particles with an organic binder, allowing artisans to mold it like clay before firing it into pure, 99.9% fine silver. This modern take on traditional metalworking draws on the ancient craft of jewellery-making, which dates back over 5,000 years to civilizations like Mesopotamia and Egypt, where precious metals adorned both royalty and everyday wearers. Silver clay’s usefulness lies in its accessibility, no forge or complex tools required making it ideal for creating intricate, professional-quality jewellery in a single day. The workshop’s informal, friendly atmosphere ensures a delightful experience for all participants. Helen’s passion for silver clay and her experience teaching diverse groups create a supportive space where creativity thrives, as evidenced by glowing reviews of her “excellent” and “inspiring” workshops . You’ll work with professional-grade silver clay, tools, and firing equipment, all provided, allowing you to focus on crafting a pendant that captures the essence of the seaside. The cost of this residential includes 20% VAT (£65.33), as we are a VAT-registered business.
Cancellation Policy
All residentials are priced including VAT charged at 20%. By completing this purchase you are securing a place for a residential, including full board accommodation at Cober Hill. We understand that plans can change, so we’ve outlined our cancellation and rescheduling policies for our residentials to ensure clarity and flexibility. At North Yorks Art School (NYAS), we incur a number of costs as soon as a residential booking is made — including venue, tutor, bank charges and administration fees. Unfortunately, due to the increasing number of cancellations, we now need to pass on a portion of these costs to customers when cancellations occur. Rescheduling Your Booking You can reschedule your booking up to 8 weeks before the start date of your residential free of charge — provided you transfer your place to another NYAS residential event taking place at Cober Hill (subject to availability). Reschedules outside of this time will be subject to a 10% booking fee. We will confirm the change in writing and transfer your place accordingly. Cancellations & Refunds If you choose to cancel your booking rather than reschedule, the following cancellation fees will apply: Over 6 Months 90% Refund 4 to 6 months 80% refund 2 to 4 months 70% refund 31 to 60 days 50% refund 30 days or less No refund Refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 3–5 business days once the cancellation is confirmed. Your Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period) If you live in the UK or EU, you are entitled to a 14-day cancellation window from the date of booking. Within this period, you may cancel for a full refund without providing a reason. To exercise this right, contact us at info@bookaclass.org within the 14-day period.
