Join us for a two-day workshop at Henshaws Arts & Craft Centre Knaresborough, led by Holly Capstick, a skilled textile artist passionate about the art of machine embroidery. Workshop Details An experimental and creative two-day textile art workshop. This workshop will allow you to explore a mixture of fabric dying, painting, applique and free-motion machine embroidery. Be inspired by Holly's wide range of artwork examples to create your own textile art piece. Day One: In this session, you will be shown a range of inspirational artworks and learn about the processes used. You will be shown how to experiment with dyes, inks and paints to create beautiful silk and cotton surfaces. You will also be shown how to plan and design an artwork, using some of the plentiful resources provided. In the second part of the session, you will learn how to transfer your imagery to fabric and begin the process of setting up your sewing machine into free-motion mode. Even if you haven't done this before, Holly will show you how. Day 2: On the second day, you will be shown how to adjust the settings on your machine and practice with free-motion methods This will then lead you onto the creation of your design, with guidance, support and advice at all stages. You will also be shown various hand embellishment approaches to add texture to your work. You will finish the day with a beautiful outcome, framed onto a backing board. All materials and equipment are provided. PPE is provided, but inks and dyes can stain so please wear appropriate clothing. Holly will provide resource images, but you are welcome to bring your own (up to 8 inch diameter or A4 maximum size - images of nature and animals work best). This is an adult course. Older children aged 13+ are welcome if booked alongside an accompanying adult. Lunch and refreshments provided. All materials included. Cancellation Policy
Booking & Cancellation Policy Payment Options You can pay in full at the time of booking via card, Google Pay, Apple Pay or PayPal, or choose to pay a 25% deposit and pay the remaining balance 45 days before the event. Cash payment can be made in person at the school, shop or venue. Deposits A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place on Workshops, Courses and Residentials. This deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances. Balance Due If you pay by deposit, the remaining 75% balance must be paid no later than 45 days before the start date. We will send you a reminder email with a payment link. Cancellation Policy Courses & Workshops More than 8 weeks before start: Full refund minus £20 admin fee. 4–8 weeks before: 70% refund. 2–4 weeks before: 50% refund. Less than 2 weeks before or after start: No refund.
