Join us for an inspiring one-day glass fusion workshop at Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre, where you’ll create a stunning 20 x 15 cm fused glass textured picture under the expert guidance of Helen Gordon, a renowned glass artist with a passion for vibrant, tactile designs. This beginner-friendly session welcomes those exploring glass for the first time as well as those with some fusing experience, requiring no drawing skills. You’ll work with a clear glass base, adding cut glass elements, frit, and stringers to build a unique design, choosing from Helen’s provided templates or why not bring your own? Learn to translate themes into glass artwork, experiment with textures, and understand glass compatibility, all while creating a piece inspired by templates or your imagination. Set in the vibrant, welcoming environment of Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre, this workshop offers a creative and supportive atmosphere, ensuring you leave with a kiln-fired artwork (these will be posted to you after the workshop) and the skills to explore glass fusion further. Glass fusion, a modern craft rooted in ancient glass working traditions dating back to 2000 BC in Mesopotamia, involves heating glass in a kiln to fuse layers into cohesive designs. Popularised in the 20th century with advancements in kiln technology, it became a favourite of contemporary artists for its ability to create colourful, textured artworks like panels, bowls and jewellery. Requiring only glass and a kiln, fusion is accessible yet versatile, producing durable pieces for decor or functional use. This workshop introduces you to the art of glass fusion, empowering you to craft a textured picture that captures light and colour, perfect for display or gifting, while fostering creativity and technical skill. Saturday 24th October 2026 10am - 4pm with Helen Gordon This workshop takes place at: Henshaws Art & Crafts Centre 50 Bond End Knaresborough HG5 9AL This workshop includes all materials, refreshments and lunch. Following the workshop, your work will be taken away and kiln fired. Your work will then be safely posted to your home address, saving you from having to return to Henshaws to collect your pieces.
