Join skilled leatherworker Catherine Edwards for a wonderful one-day workshop and learn to make your own beautiful pair of handsewn felt and leather slippers. This hands-on workshop guides you through the entire process of creating a simple yet elegant pair of leather slippers using traditional techniques. You will begin by learning how to measure your feet and cut your own custom patterns to ensure a perfect fit. You will then trace your patterns onto high-quality unwaxed leather, carefully cut out the pieces, and mark them up ready for stitching. Using the traditional Saddlers’ two-handed sewing technique, you will stitch your slippers together and add a neat little heel for comfort and structure. Once your slippers are complete, you will use soft suede to create a stylish envelope-style storage bag, finished with a beautiful hand-rolled leather toggle fastening. Every stage of the making process is completed entirely by hand. You will have the opportunity to use genuine leatherworking tools, including many beautiful vintage and antique pieces from Catherine’s own collection. This workshop is perfect for anyone who loves traditional crafts, leatherwork, or simply wants to create a practical and beautiful handmade item to enjoy for years to come. No previous experience is necessary — Catherine’s clear, patient teaching style makes the process accessible and enjoyable for all. Please provide shoe size and the colour you would like to make from the following selection at the time of booking: Ecru, Light Grey, Charcoal, Purple, Fuchsia, Turquoise, Teal, Red, Marmalade, Green. A sample of the colours available is shown below.
