Portraiture with the Masters

Join us for an immersive four-day masterclass at the picturesque Cober Hill, nestled in the serene North Yorkshire countryside, where you’ll hone your portraiture skills under the guidance of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year winners Wendy Barratt, Brogan Bertie and semi-finalist Sara Reeve. This programme is designed for artists of all levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals, offering a blend of structured daytime workshops, optional evening sessions, and a culminating pop-up exhibition. Each day, you’ll participate in a focused workshop led by one of our renowned tutors, exploring distinct aspects of portrait drawing and painting. Evening activities provide additional opportunities to expand your artistic horizons, and the retreat concludes with a celebratory showcase of your work, fostering a supportive community of creatives. Over three days of expert-led tuition, participants will delve into three portrait methods which are: - Painting Portraits with a Limited Palette with Wendy Barratt - Discovering the power of portraiture simplicity with a limited palette to create striking portraits with economy and impact. - Self-Portraits with Sara Reeve - Helping you translate your unique features into a compelling composition. - Portrait Painting with Brogan Bertie - Using smooth panals and oilpaints helping you capturing likeness by emphasising underlying structure. On Friday morning you are invited to come along to a pop-up exhibition of work created during the week. The workshops takes place at: Cober Hill Cloughton Scarborough North Yorkshire YO13 0AR The workshops runs daily from from 10am to 4pm. Please arrive at Cober Hill between 9.30am and 9.45am for refreshments before heading to the studio for a prompt 10am start. Includes all materials and lunch.
Cancellation Policy
Right to Cancel and Receive Reimbursement The statutory 14-day cooling-off period does not apply to accommodation and leisure services provided on specific dates. We offer the following goodwill policy: Cancellation & Refund Policy: More than 12 weeks before arrival: Full refund minus £30 administration fee per person. 6–12 weeks before arrival: 75% refund. 4–6 weeks before arrival: 50% refund. Less than 4 weeks before arrival: No refund. Cancellations must be made in writing to info@bookaclass.com. Refunds (where due) will be processed within 10 business days. Travel / Holiday Insurance Recommendation We strongly recommend that all participants purchase comprehensive travel or holiday insurance at the time of booking. This should cover cancellation or curtailment, medical expenses, personal belongings, and any other relevant risks. We cannot be held responsible for any losses, damages, or additional costs you may incur due to cancellation, illness, injury, or other unforeseen circumstances if you do not have adequate insurance in place. Rescheduling: Possible up to 8 weeks before arrival (subject to availability). A £30 administration fee applies for changes made later. Our Right to Cancel: We may cancel a residential stay due to insufficient numbers or force majeure. In such cases we will first offer an alternative date before offering a full refund.
