Join acclaimed North Yorkshire artist Angela Chalmers for a wonderful one-day introduction to the beautiful art of cyanotype, one of the oldest and most magical photographic processes. Cyanotype creates stunning prussian blue prints using sunlight (or UV light), producing ethereal, atmospheric images with a distinctive retro feel. This hands-on workshop is perfect for beginners and offers a relaxing, creative day exploring cameraless photography. Angela Chalmers is a highly respected visual artist and author of the book Creative Cyanotype: Techniques & Inspiration. She specialises in cyanotype and mixed-media processes on paper and textiles. Her work explores themes of memory, identity and place. With many years of teaching experience, Angela is known for her encouraging and inspiring workshop style. What you will do during the day: - Learn the history and science behind the cyanotype process - Prepare your own light-sensitive paper and fabric - Create beautiful botanical prints using flowers, leaves, and found objects - Experiment with different techniques including photograms, negative prints and toning - Explore creative approaches to composition and design - Produce a collection of striking blue prints to take home This is a fun, tactile, and creative workshop where you’ll discover the joy of working with natural materials and the unpredictability of sunlight, making each print truly unique. - All materials, chemicals, paper, and fabric provided - Suitable for complete beginners and all abilities - Refreshments and lunch included You will leave with your own beautiful set of cyanotype prints, a deeper understanding of alternative photography, and the knowledge and inspiration to continue experimenting at home. A perfect day for anyone who loves nature, printmaking and photography; and also great for those simply wanting to try something new and creative This class takes place at: Cober Hill Cloughton Scarborough North Yorkshire YO13 0AR Turn this workshop into a three-night stay at Cober Hill’s historic mansion house. The residential package costs an additional £270 per person. Check-in from 3pm Saturday 25th September check-out by 10.30am Monday 27th September. Please select the accommodation option on the booking form. The workshop runs from 10am to 4pm. Please arrive at Cober Hill between 9.30am and 9.45am for refreshments before heading to the studio for a prompt 10am start. Includes all materials, refreshments and Lunch.

Booking & Cancellation Policy Payment Options You can pay in full at the time of booking via card, Google Pay, Apple Pay or PayPal, or choose to pay a 25% deposit and pay the remaining balance 45 days before the event. Cash payment can be made in person at the school, shop or venue. Deposits A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place on Workshops, Courses and Residentials. This deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances. Balance Due If you pay by deposit, the remaining 75% balance must be paid no later than 45 days before the start date. We will send you a reminder email with a payment link. Cancellation Policy Courses & Workshops More than 8 weeks before start: Full refund minus £20 admin fee. 4–8 weeks before: 70% refund. 2–4 weeks before: 50% refund. Less than 2 weeks before or after start: No refund.
