Take part in a relaxed and playful session with artist Molly Newham. Explore the possibilities of colour, mixed media and mark making with demos to guide you throughout. - Practice mark making techniques - Explore colour and form - Learn how to successfully blend different materials - Consider what makes a good abstract composition - Explore different surfaces for painting and drawing Create your own mixed media landscape, seascape, experimental portrait or why not make a work inspired by all kinds of flora and fauna? Bring these or any other ideas you might want to explore and receive support and tips from Molly to achieve your goal. The class centres on process, allowing participants to discover how colour, texture and mark making can work together to create expressive, layered and intuitive artworks. This class is ideal for those looking to loosen up their style, deepen their understanding of mixed media techniques, and build confidence in combining materials in fresh and unexpected ways. The atmosphere is supportive and exploratory. We welcome all experience levels. Materials: For this class we recommend you have mixed media paper, acrylic paint, large and small brushes, oil pastels/chalk pastels, graphite pencils and charcoal. An A4/A3 sketchbook is also useful for this class. You can bring canvas, mixed media paper or wooden panels to work on larger pieces as well as any other drawing or mixed media materials you would like to bring along. If you would like to borrow materials, there is a £5 charge. About Molly: Molly Newham is a contemporary landscape artist and curator working across painting, drawing and sculpture. She completed a BA in Fine Art at the University of Leeds receiving the Alan Mohun Memorial Prize (2023), and is now completing an MA in Fine Art at the University of Leeds. She was winner of the Jim Orme painting prize at the Old Parcel Office Open (2025) and was selected for Yorkshire Sculpture International Network programme with Henry Moore Institute and Hepworth Wakefield (2025). All Classes, Courses, Workshops and Masterclasses are priced including VAT charged at 20%. Cancelations and Rescheduling You can reschedule a bookaclass.org event up to 2 weeks before the commencement of the event. bookaclass.org will transfer your booking to an alternative date and provide written confirmation of the cancelation and new booking. You can cancel a bookaclass.org event up to 2 weeks before commencement of the event. bookaclass.org will process a full refund for the event which will be made to your original payment method and can take 3-5 business days to process. Cancelations within 2 weeks of the event will not be refunded, however bookaclass.org will look to reschedule you onto a future bookaclass.org event. This option is at the discretion of bookaclass.org. Your Right to Cancel If you are a customer living in the United Kingdom or the European Union you have the right to cancel your contract to purchase services from us within 14 days of purchase without giving notice. The cancellation period will end 14 days from the date of purchase when you purchased a service.
