Join popular North Yorkshire watercolour artist Andrew Storrie for a relaxed and inspiring 6-week watercolour course at North Yorks Art School. Andrew is a highly regarded watercolourist known for his fresh, atmospheric, and expressive style. With many years of teaching experience, Andrew has a wonderful ability to make watercolour accessible and enjoyable for all abilities. He specialises in capturing the landscapes and coastline of North Yorkshire, with a loose, confident approach that emphasises light, mood, and spontaneity. His encouraging and supportive teaching style helps students build confidence while developing their own artistic voice. This 6-week course is perfect for beginners and improvers who want to develop strong watercolour skills in a friendly, small-group environment. Each week you will work on a new watercolour painting, guided by Andrew. Every session begins with a clear demonstration of new techniques, followed by plenty of time for you to apply what you’ve learned to your own painting. Andrew will provide individual guidance and feedback throughout, helping you improve week by week. Techniques you will explore include: Wet-in-wet and wet-on-dry painting Soft washes and glazes Colour mixing and harmonious palettes Creating texture and interesting marks Capturing light, atmosphere and mood Loose, expressive brushwork and composition Simplifying complex subjects Each week focuses on a different subject and set of skills, so by the end of the six weeks you will have completed six individual paintings and gained a much broader understanding of watercolour painting. This is an excellent opportunity to build confidence, learn new techniques, and enjoy the creative process alongside like-minded artists in a welcoming environment. Whether you’ve never picked up a watercolour brush before or you’re looking to improve and refine your skills, Andrew’s course will leave you feeling inspired and more confident in your painting. Booking & Cancellation Policy Payment Options You can pay in full at the time of booking via card, Google Pay, Apple Pay or PayPal, or choose to pay a 25% deposit and pay the remaining balance 45 days before the event. Cash payment can be made in person at the school, shop or venue. Deposits A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place on Workshops, Courses and Residentials. This deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances. Balance Due If you pay by deposit, the remaining 75% balance must be paid no later than 45 days before the start date. We will send you a reminder email with a payment link. Cancellation Policy Courses & Workshops More than 8 weeks before start: Full refund minus £20 admin fee. 4–8 weeks before: 70% refund. 2–4 weeks before: 50% refund. Less than 2 weeks before or after start: No refund.
