Join us for a week of creative exploration at the restful and lovely Cober Hill just outside Scarborough, North Yorkshire. This relaxing four-night, full board residential, where you will be allocated your own en-suite room in the Cober Hill Mansion House, is designed to give you the perfect balance of gentle structure and freedom, with each day featuring two inspiring workshops. Every morning and afternoon you will enjoy a fresh new class from our fantastic line-up of tutors. This is your chance to try exciting new techniques or develop skills you may have picked up previously. Think of them as tasters or refreshers. The week offers a rich variety of disciplines, so you can dip your toes into something completely new or deepen your confidence in a favourite medium. You’ll enjoy workshops in: - Linocut Stamp Making with Darya Savonina - Watercolour with Andrew Storrie - Mixed Media with Molly Newham - Oil Painting with Garth Bayley - Pastel Drawing with Jeremy Ford - Transpositional Drawing with Christopher Shaw In addition, you can choose to join our optional evening sessions starting at 7.30pm including: Tuesday - Walk & Sketch with Colin Wednesday - Art History with Linda Thursday - Art Quiz with Dave There will also be relaxed evening movie nights or you may just choose to unwind in the lounge or patio area with a drink. The choice is yours. On Friday morning, after breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity to come together with the group to share and celebrate the work you’ve created during the week. Then it's home time, hopefully bursting with ideas and fond memories of friends made. This gentle, supportive format is ideal for both beginners and more experienced makers who enjoy variety and experimentation. You’ll have plenty of time to create, relax, socialise and enjoy the lovely grounds and surroundings of Cober Hill in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. All materials and equipment are provided for every session – so you only need to bring your enthusiasm and essentials for a wonderful week away. Check-in from 3pm Monday 13th July 2026 Check-out by 10.30am Friday 17th July 2026 Workshops will take place 9.30am - 12pm and 2pm-4.30pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Lunch is served 12.30pm-1.30pm daily.
Cancellation Policy
All residentials are priced including VAT charged at 20%. By completing this purchase you are securing a place for a residential, including full board accommodation at Cober Hill. We understand that plans can change, so we’ve outlined our cancellation and rescheduling policies for our residentials to ensure clarity and flexibility. At North Yorks Art School (NYAS), we incur a number of costs as soon as a residential booking is made — including venue, tutor, bank charges and administration fees. Unfortunately, due to the increasing number of cancellations, we now need to pass on a portion of these costs to customers when cancellations occur. Rescheduling Your Booking You can reschedule your booking up to 8 weeks before the start date of your residential free of charge — provided you transfer your place to another NYAS residential event taking place at Cober Hill (subject to availability). Reschedules outside of this time will be subject to a 10% booking fee. We will confirm the change in writing and transfer your place accordingly. Cancellations & Refunds If you choose to cancel your booking rather than reschedule, the following cancellation fees will apply: Over 6 Months 90% Refund 4 to 6 months 80% refund 2 to 4 months 70% refund 31 to 60 days 50% refund 30 days or less No refund Refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 3–5 business days once the cancellation is confirmed. Your Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period) If you live in the UK or EU, you are entitled to a 14-day cancellation window from the date of booking. Within this period, you may cancel for a full refund without providing a reason. To exercise this right, contact us at info@bookaclass.org within the 14-day period.
