Join us for this practical and creative one-day Screen Printing workshop at North Yorks Art School in Scarborough, led by Kate Jennings, a local artist and printmaker. This workshop offers a friendly, hands-on introduction to two-layer stencil screen printing onto paper. It is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some creative experience who want to learn this versatile and rewarding printmaking technique. In the morning you will focus on design development and stencil preparation. Kate will guide you through the key principles of stencil planning, working with positive and negative space, colour layering, and registration. You will learn how to develop suitable images, cut clean paper stencils, and prepare your artwork for a successful two-colour print. In the afternoon you will move on to the exciting screen printing process itself. This includes preparing the screen, setting up the hinge, mixing acrylic ink with printing medium, mastering squeegee technique, layering colours, and achieving accurate registration between layers. Kate will provide ongoing support and tips to help you produce clean, consistent, high-quality prints. By the end of the day, each participant will have completed a small edition of their own original two-layer stencil print on quality printmaking paper to take home, along with the knowledge and confidence to continue exploring screen printing independently. The workshop takes place in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere with plenty of individual guidance from Kate throughout. Booking & Cancellation Policy Payment Options You can pay in full at the time of booking via card, Google Pay, Apple Pay or PayPal, or choose to pay a 25% deposit and pay the remaining balance 45 days before the event. Cash payment can be made in person at the school, shop or venue. Deposits A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place on Workshops, Courses and Residentials. This deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances. Balance Due If you pay by deposit, the remaining 75% balance must be paid no later than 45 days before the start date. We will send you a reminder email with a payment link. Cancellation Policy Courses & Workshops More than 8 weeks before start: Full refund minus £20 admin fee. 4–8 weeks before: 70% refund. 2–4 weeks before: 50% refund. Less than 2 weeks before or after start: No refund.
