Join us for a relaxing and rewarding one-day Macramé Workshop at beautiful Cober Hill with Kim Searle of Darn It Workshops. Macramé is the ancient craft of knotting cords and ropes to create decorative and functional pieces. Once popular in the 1970s bohemian era, macramé has enjoyed a wonderful modern revival. Today it blends natural fibres, thoughtful knot patterns, and contemporary design to produce stylish wall hangings, plant hangers, home décor, and more. In this hands-on workshop you will spend the full day learning a wide variety of macramé knots and techniques. Starting with the essential foundation knots of a square knot, spiral knot, clove hitch, gathering knot and many more, you’ll quickly learn how to combine them to create beautiful textures, patterns, and shapes. You’ll have the freedom to experiment and design your own unique piece, whether that’s a decorative wall hanging, a modern plant hanger, a mirror or picture frame surround, or a smaller keepsake item. Kim will provide plenty of inspiration, step-by-step guidance, and creative support throughout the day so you can develop your own personal style. By the end of the workshop you will have gained confidence in macramé techniques and take home a beautiful, handmade creation that you can proudly display.
